Go to Bottom
Oh my word, it's been a while since my last update in June. It's been almost 4 months, and we pretty much got done everything we wanted to get done so far -- Largely during a 2-month pause in the Pacific Northwest. As we finished up this 10-month loop of the US in June, 2024, and before arriving at our two-month planned stay near Seattle (for July-August), we stopped in Eugene, Oregon for a few days, then a few days at Ocean Shores, Washington to visit with our son Aaron and his significant other Nadine for a few days. Then we headed off to our 2-plus month stay in the Seattle area. We stayed in the same place that I did for 14 months before we left 2023, which was out in Sultan, about 24 miles east of Everett on Stevens PassHighway 2.
Our stay near Seattle had all kinds of plans in it, and I think we got in every one of them, and lots more. During and throughout July and August, we caught up on doctor and dentist appointments, vet appointments, did Karaoke a bunch, visited with family and friends, burned some steaks, caught up with our neighbors, sold the scooters and bought a 2024 Harley Davidson TriGlide trike (yeah, our Meanwhile, we sold the scooters to Gloria's brother, who drove up from Anaheim, CA, to trail them back in his truck, and he thanked us by giving me a VERY cool and capable drone! I haven't used it a lot yet, but I surely know how, and I bought a new memory card for it and expect to take some very cool videos I'll be posting soon!
We rented a car for the entire two months we were in Seattle, which was pretty pricey, but over and over again (if not daily or more-than-daily) turned out to be a good choice. To find an available car, we used an online thing called Turo, and I would highly recommend it for similar car rental needs. We wanted one for two full months, and even with Insurance which we had to opt in to since we don't have a personal car to After the two-month stay in the Seattle area, we got away for our second year right on schedule, on September 1. On out-bound, we spent a few days in Eugene, Oregon again, then off to the western National Parks, mainly Utah and Arizona. We headed across Oregon on our way to (eventually) Moab, Utah, and both Arches and Canyon land National Parks. We stayed for a few days in Vale, Oregon, and Brigham City Utah, before landing for a week in Moab, where we are as I'm composing these keystrokes. It's been warm! Vale, Oregon was 90+ degrees the whole time we were there, nearly the same in Brigham City Utah, and now Moab is pretty much delightful in the mid 80s. We spent the day at Canyonlands National Park on Monday, September 16, then all day yesterday the 17th at Arches. Phenomenal views all day, both days! I highly recommend this stop for anyone. Please see pictures and videos! I'm going to have to do something different with the website. It's become a real drudge to put up an update every month. I still want the history of what we're doing for our own purposes, so I'll continue to do something. But it won't be as involved as it was during the last, year-long loop of the country. I'll take suggestions from anyone, but I've definitely got to do something simpler. From here in Moab, we are off to a week already reserved near Bryce and Zion National Parks, then a week at Grand Canyon, 5 days near Monument Valley, Arizona, and then a week in Albuquerque during the Balloon Festival, which has spent decades on my bucket list! Well wishes to everyone back home, great to be back on the road, and we would love to hear from ANYONE, ANY TIME! |
